Melissa King explains that when our gardens heat up, it’s important that the water we apply gets to where the plant needs it most – the root system.

When you are out watering your garden, do a simple test on your soil. Water your soil and you will probably notice that the top layer is wet, now dig down into the soil. Is it wet or dry?

If it is dry, then the soil has probably started to become hydrophobic, meaning it’s beginning to repel water. So water is probably rolling off the surface, not being absorbed, meaning that much needed water isn’t getting to where we really want it to.

This scenario is more common that you think and you can see it alot in certain types of soils and pots. A well water garden can actually be dry stressed.

Melissa explains the key is to act on it now, so if your soil is acting this way, then grab a bottle of Seasol Super Soil Wetter & Conditioner. It is much more than a soil wetter. It’s a wetting agent, which has been boosted with liquid compost and Seasol, so it’s the perfect product to apply just before summer.
